2008 FUNDING RECEIVED

SASK Herbarium has recently obtained funding from the Canadian Foundation for Innovation to digitize the botanical collection. This project is part of network system consisting of the biological collections of the Canadian University Biodiversity Consortium (CUBC). This biodiversity informatics-based project will ensure the interoperability, compatibility of the different databases from Canadian herbaria. This initiative will make this data network originated from the main systematic and biological collections of Canada accessible to the general community via a user-friendly web portal. This network will be compatible with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) and the Canadian Biodiversity Information Facility (CBIF), thus consolidating Canadian and international collaborations and providing opportunities for new research partnerships in biodiversity and sustainable development. FIELD TRIP TO KAUAI (February 15-23, 2003)

Several students from the University of Saskatchewan, accompanied Dr. Hugo Cota-Sanchez (2002 Kenan Fellow of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens (NTBG) ), and Dr. Karen Wiebe on a field trip to explore botany of Kauai. Click here to see photos of the trip.
