Castilleja raupii is threatened because of extreme rarity in Saskatchewan. In addition, it is regionally restricted to the northern part of the province. No threats are known or anticipated for this species at the present time.
 
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
 
Height: 30 – 50 cm
Stems: usually several, slender, green or purplish, puberulent to villous
Leaves: cauline, 2 – 5 mm wide, linear or lanceolate, apex attenuate, finely pubescent, margin entire or occasionally with a pair of lateral lobes
Inflorescence: spike dense; bracts oval to lanceolate, violet-purple, puberulent, margin with a pair of lateral lobes
Flowers: calyx violet-purple, 4-lobed, puberulent; corolla 1.5 – 2 cm long, shorter than bracts, hirsute, upper lip hooded, violet-purple; stamens 4, didynamous
