Goodyera oblongifolia is threatened because of rarity in Saskatchewan and is regionally restricted to one subregion in the province. Some local populations are small; however, no threats are known or anticipated.
 
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
 
Height: 10 – 40 cm
Roots: rhizomes creeping; roots thick
Stems: erect, densely glandular-pubescent
Leaves: basal, 3 – 7, petiole wide, blades 3 – 11 cm long, 1.5 – 3.5 cm wide, elliptic to ovate, tapering at base, more or less fleshy, dark bluish-green, streaked with white along midrib, occasionally with fine white lateral veins, densely glandular-pubescent
Inflorescence: raceme spiralled or secund, 10 – 48-flowered, to 12 cm long; peduncle 7 – 38 cm long; bracts 6 – 9 mm long
Flowers: calyx greenish-white, lateral sepals and petals fused to form a hood; hood 5 – 10 mm long; corolla greenish-white, midrib green; labellum boat-shaped, inner surface with 4 unequal rows of glands, beak about 2/3 length of body, margin entire to involute; anther acuminate; pollinia acuminate; ovary stout
