Malaxis paludosa is endangered because it is rare in Saskatchewan and is almost always locally sparse. No immediate threats are known at the present time.
 
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
 
Height: 3 - 20 cm
Roots: underground corms; roots fibrous
Stems: pseudobulb at base; stem erect, very slender
Leaves: basal, 2 – 5, 1 – 3 cm long, ovate to lanceolate, base sheathing and enclosing a daughter bulb, apex rounded
Inflorescence: raceme 1 – 9 cm long, 2 – 30-flowered, slender, spicate; floral bracts lanceolate; pedicels 2 – 3 mm long
Flowers: not resupinate, small; calyx and corolla less than 3 mm long, green or yellowish; dorsal sepal ovate to lanceolate, erect, lateral sepals reflexed; corolla half as long as calyx, strongly recurved; labellum ovate, erect, conspicuously green-nerved
Fruits: capsule ascending
