Large yellow monkeyflower is vulnerable because it is rare or uncommon in Saskatchewan. This species is restricted to one location in the province. It is usually locally numerous within limited areas. No threats are known or anticipated.
 
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
 
Growth Habit: 5 – 60 cm
Stems: annual or perennial, stout or weak, simple or branched, usually erect, rooting at the lower nodes, hairless to short hairy
Leaves: opposite, upper leaves sessile or clasping, lower leaves stalked, 1 – 5 cm long, oval to egg-shaped, margin coarsely square-toothed
Inflorescence: flowers solitary or in unbranched clusters; stalks slender, 1 – 3.5 cm long
Flowers: large, showy, irregular; sepals 1 – 2 cm long, bell-shaped, inflated in fruit; petals 2 – 4 cm long, strongly 2-lipped, lobes of the upper lip reflexed, bright yellow, commonly spotted with red, throat hairy
Fruits: capsule rounded; seeds many, brown
