Common yampah is threatened in Saskatchewan because it is extremely rare and regionally restricted in the province. It is usually locally numerous within an area. No immediate threats are known but may occur in the future.
 
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
 
Height: 25 – 100 cm
Roots: taproot in clusters of 2 - 3
Stems: mostly solitary, unbranched, ridged, slender, hairless
Leaves: on the stem and basal, few, slightly reduced upwards, 2 – 4 times longer than wide, 1 – 2 times pinnate, basal leaves once divided, margins nearly parallel to oval shaped
Leaflets: 3-7, 2 – 25 cm long, 2 – 4 mm wide, linear
Inflorescence: umbel compound, 1 – several, axillary or terminal; bracts of 1 - 2 linear, sheathing leaves, 3 – 8 cm long
Umbellets: 8 – 20; bractlets 1 – 4 mm long, thin, dry and membranous, green or absent
Flowers: 8 – 20 per umbellet; petals < 1 mm long, 5 – 7 veined, greenish, white, or pink; sepal teeth conspicuous
Fruits: dry fruit 2 – 4 mm long, nearly as long as broad, almost round, flattened laterally, dark brown, hairless; persistent style
