Perideridia gairdneri ssp. borealis is threatened in Saskatchewan because it is extremely rare and regionally restricted in the province. It is usually locally numerous within an area. No immediate threats are known but may occur in the future.
 
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
 
Height: 25 – 100 cm tall
Roots: taproot fascicled
Stems: mostly solitary, unbranched, ridged, slender, glabrous
Leaves: cauline and basal, few, slightly reduced upwards, 1 – 2 times pinnate, basal leaves simply pinnate, oblong to ovate
Leaflets: 3-7, 2 – 25 cm long, 2 – 4 mm wide, linear
Inflorescence: umbel compound, 1 – several, axillary or terminal; involucre of 1 – 2, linear, sheathing leaves, 3 – 8 cm long
Umbellets: 8 – 20; involucel 1 – 4 mm long, scarious, green or absent
Flowers: 8 – 20 per umbellet; < 1 mm long; corolla 5 – 7 veined, greenish, white or pink; calyx teeth conspicuous
Fruits: schizocarp 2 – 4 mm long, nearly as long as broad, suborbicular, flattened laterally, dark brown, glabrous; style persistent
