Hairy butterwort is rare or uncommon in Saskatchewan. Its occurrence is somewhat regionally restricted and most local populations are small. No threats are know or anticipated.
 
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
 
Height: often less than 10 cm
Roots: small taproot
Stems: without leaves and terminating in a flower, solitary, glandular-hairy above, long-hairy below
Leaves: basal rosette, < 10 mm long, oval to elliptic, yellowish-green, succulent, glandular-sticky on upper surface, acting as traps for small insects, margin rolled
Inflorescence: flowers solitary
Flowers: nodding; sepals 5-lobed, upper lip 3-lobed, lower lip 2-lobed, glandular-hairy; petals 6 – 10 mm long, 2-lipped, lower lip terminating in a spur, lavender
Fruits: capsules erect, 3 – 5 mm long
