Prenanthes alba is vulnerable because it is almost always locally sparse. No immediate threats are known but are quite possible in the future.
 
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
 
Height: 50 – 150 cm
Stems: solitary, often purplish, glabrous
Leaves: basal and cauline; basal leaves long-petiolate, petiole 2 – 3 times longer than blade, ternately lobed, margin coarsely toothed; cauline leaves short-petiolate to sessile, reduced upwards, lobed to toothed
Inflorescence: phyllaries in 3 series; the outer 2 very short; inner (principle) series 8, 11 – 14 mm long, purplish, glabrous or nearly so, may be covered in waxy bloom
Flowers: ligulate florets only, 9, fertile, white to pink to lavender
Fruits: achene 4 – 6 mm long, bright yellow, distinctly ribbed; pappus dark brown to reddish, capillary bristles
