Salix turnorii is threatened because it is rare or uncommon in Saskatchewan. It is regionally restricted in the province but is usually locally numerous. No immediate threats are known but may occur in the future.

catkins appearing in mid-spring, with or slightly earlier than the leaves, subsessile; pistillate catkins 1 – 3 cm long

staminate flowers with 2 stamens

Fruits:

capsules glabrous, pale green to reddish, stipe long; bracts brown, small, long-villous, persistent
