Tetraneuris acaulis var. acaulis is endangered because it is regionally restricted in the province and population sizes vary. Possible threats include occurrences in heavily populated areas, fragile habitats, or planned developments.
 
SPECIES DESCRIPTION
 
Height: 10 – 30 cm
Roots: taproot woody
Stems: caudex thick, branched, persistent leaf bases with woolly axils; stems unbranched
Leaves: basal, tufted, 2 – 8 cm long, 2 – 3 mm wide, linear oblong to narrowly oblanceolate, apex acute, light green, silky-hairy, often silvery
Inflorescence: head solitary; phyllaries in 1 – 2 subequal series, 5 – 8 mm high, brownish with dark tips, silky villous
Flowers: ligulate florets 10 – 15, reflexed at maturity, 6 – 15 mm long, to 0.5 cm wide, 3-toothed, pistillate, fertile, yellow with orange nerves; tubular florets many, perfect, fertile, yellow
Fruits: achenes weakly 4-angled, coarsely pubescent with appressed hairs; pappus of 5 – 7 scales
