Earthstars
Earthstars are a distinctive group of fungi related to puffballs,
that have an outer and an inner wall. The outer wall splits at maturity (forming
rays) to expose the inner wall, but may close up under some conditions. The
inner wall surrounds the spore sac (gleba) and may develop a pore (ostiole)
at maturity.
