Hygrophoraceae
This is a typically brightly coloured group (nevertheless, the spores are white) that always grows in the ground or on duff, and not on logs or other wood, or on dung, or parasitically. When the gills are rubbed together very hard they feel waxy, and leave a waxy layer on the fingers. They do not produce latex. There is one genus, Hygrophorus.
